Achievements Delivered in Belmont

METRONET & TRANSPORT

  • Making our roads safer with a $1.8 billion upgrade to interchanges along Great Eastern Highway, including the intersection with Roe Highway
  • Delivery of Redcliffe Train Station as part of the $1.86 billion Forrestfield/Airport Link. The name of this station was originally supposed to be Belmont Station, however I strongly petitioned for the station to be named after the suburb it is in, Redcliffe.
  • $60,000 for pre-deflections on the approach to the roundabout at the intersection of Wright St and Armadale Rd
  • $4.5 million worth of upgrades to the Francisco St and Orrong Rd intersection to improve safety, including allowing only right turns under green arrow control
  • $83,297 for lighting upgrades and the installation of median islands on both approaches on Leake St where it intersects with Durban St
  • $58,077 to upgrade the intersection of Wright St and Kooyong Rd by installing pre-deflections and upgrading lighting
  • $120,048 for the installation of a roundabout at the intersection of Fulham St and Fisher St, as well as upgrading lighting
  • Tonkin Gap Project to alleviate one of the most notorious bottlenecks in the community. Upgrades included additional traffic lanes, new bridges, upgraded interchanges, a new principal shared path, enhanced lighting, landscaping, pavement markings, wayfinding signs, and a new BMX and mountain bike skills area. I successfully advocated for the installation of noise walls

JOBS & LOCAL BUSINESSES

  • $6.9 million to Gemco Rail to boost railcar manufacturing in WA
  • Sapore Espresso Bar and Belmont Sporting Globe received grants via the Activating Alfresco Grant Program for the cost of alfresco purchases
  • $40,000 to RLF AgTech towards creating a global fertiliser opportunity from Welshpool
  • Future Materials received $19,913 to help the company accelerate decarbonisation
  • Provided over $2 million to Total Green Recycling for various projects to enhance business capabilities
  • Delivered $5 million to Wide Open Agriculture towards a production facility
  • MineArc received $3.1 million to contribute to the cost of their projects
  • $500,000 for 4D Delta towards wear management
  • Pacific Energy Renewables WA received $2.4 million for the advanced manufacturing of Stand-Alone Power Systems

INVESTING IN LOCAL SCHOOLS

  • Provided $5 million funding to Belmont City College for a new Performing Arts Centre
  • $1.3 million in funding to Belmont City College for science laboratories with new working benches and storage spaces
  • $1 million in funding to Belmont City Primary for refurbishment to classrooms and upgrade areas of the school to enhance facilities
  • $2 million in funding to Belmay Primary to enclose the covered assembly area to make the space weather proof.
  • Funding to Clontarf Foundation for Aboriginal boys attending Belmont City College to receive the mentoring and support they need
  • Funding for new roof, air-conditioning and fencing at Belmont Primary School
  • $964,000 to address priority maintenance works at all public schools in Belmont
  • Rivervale, Belmay, Cloverdale, Kewdale and Redcliffe Primary Schools receive funding for additional education assistants (FTE)
  • New nature playgrounds at Carlisle, Cloverdale, Kewdale and Rivervale Primary Schools
  • Converting classrooms to science labs at Belmont, Rivervale, Carlisle and Belmay Primary Schools

  • $5,400 for Cloverdale Primary to help create an outdoor classroom
  • $3,000 for Cloverdale Education Support Centre to help create projects that encourage healthy habits and choices
  • Provided funding the Belmont City College to install light emitting diode lights to reduce their energy costs and carbon emissions, as well as assisting the College to purchase bins for Containers for Change and paper recycling
  • Delivery of solar panels of Kewdale Primary, Belmay Primary, and Rivervale Primary

COMMUNITY SAFETY

  • Extended the opening hours of Belmont Police Station to 7pm to provide better hours of service to the Belmont Community
  • Delivering our Meth Action Plan including road-side drug testing, with a focus on the three pillars of prevention, protection and prosecution
  • Supporting community based crime prevention efforts with extra funding for local councils and not-for-profits
  • Provided $34.6 million for the roll out of personal issue mobile smart devices to police officers
  • Charlotte’s Law’ - which increases the maximum penalty for aggravated dangerous driving causing death or bodily harm
  • Provided $5 million for refurbishments and upgrades to the Belmont Police Station, which has increased its capacity for housing officers
  • New heavy flood rescue boat for Belmont State Emergency Service
  • Jacaranda Community Centre received $100,000 to help reduce and prevent drug-related crime, support victims of crime and to aid law enforcement
  • Provided over $600,000 to Starick to assist with programs that effect some of our community’s most vulnerable people, such as women and children escaping domestic and family violence
  • $5,540 to the City of Belmont to strengthen emergency management

INVESTMENT IN SPORT

  • Provided over $200,000 to the Belmont Bombers Football Club to help them install lighting at their training grounds in Forster Park
  • Gave the Belmont Cricket Club $20,000 to upgrade their facilities and equipment
  • $193,000 to upgrade the astro turf at Belmont City Bowling Club
  • Provided funding for new equipment for Belmont Cricket Club, Belmont Croquet Club, Belmont Junior Football Academy, Belmont Junior Football Club, Belmont Junior Soccer Club, Belmont Villa Soccer Club, Redcliffe Junior Football Club, and Sporting Warriors Soccer Club
  • Delivered 4 new synthetic runways for Belmont Little Athletics
  • $172,000 for Belmont Park Tennis club to upgrade the hard courts and lighting
  • New high jump mats for Carlisle/Rivervale Little Athletics
  • $1.6 million renovation of the Belmont Squash and Sports Centre
  • $2.513 million towards upgrades at Wilson Park, including new lighting and netball courts
  • Spent $10,000 to build a fence around Miles Park to protect Belmont Junior Soccer Club players
  • Provided $300,000 to Ascot Kayak Club to help develop a flat water slalom course along the Swan River at Garvey park

SUPPORTING THE COMMUNITY 

  • Protected local heritage by delivering the Ascot Kilns conservation project
  • $100,000 contribution to the Hazelmere Hall for extensive renovations
  • Provided $50,000 for upgrades at Selby Park in Redcliffe
  • Helped the Belmont Men’s Shed purchase $20,000 worth of equipment to work on new projects
  • $1.2 million towards the fit-out of SecondBite’s new Kewdale warehouse
  • $863,911 to SecondBite for food delivery support
  • Provided $10,000 to Belmont RSL for new display cabinets
  • Delivered $2,375 for new toys at the Belmont Toy Library
  • $1,071,600 in WA Student Assistance Payments delivered to families across the electorate
  • Funding provided to the City of Belmont to upgrade the changerooms at Forster Park
  • Para and Ability Dance WA received funding to host events that support people living with a disability
  • $496,000 to the East Metropolitan Regional Council to support the Avon Descent, which enables the community to come together for connections, recreation and to enjoy free and low-cost  activities, entertainment, food and amenities
  • Provided over $300,000 to Girl Guides WA to assist with their programs and improve their systems
  • Over $480,000 provided to Mission Australia to assist with the delivery of their services
  • $9,060 to the Kitwek Association and $26,992 to the Nepali Association WA to celebrate diversity and help the community connect with their cultures
  • Provided $10,000 to Umbrella Community Care to deliver a project aimed at promoting health, financial literacy, social wellbeing and confidence among older culturally and linguistically diverse women aged 55 and over
  • Provided funding to Foodbank WA, Girl Guides WA and Southern Cross Care WA to celebrate their volunteers and the extremely valuable work they do
  • Contributed around $13.7 million for the construction of the Belmont Hub, which includes a larger library, digital hub, seniors citizens club, enhanced museum, a creche and cafe

THE ENVIRONMENT

  • Saved wetlands adjacent to Garvey Park, ensuring that they’re retained as parkland and not used for residential development
  • $8,527 to the City of Belmont for the construction of an e-waste storage shed
  • Delivered a new Containers for Change kiosk along Belvidere Street
  • $240,000 towards upgrading and restoring the Esplanade foreshore, including the construction of a raised walkway, fishing platform and recreation areas
  • Provided funding to The Burswood Park Board for improvements to the Burswood foreshore
  • $17,284.61 to Trillion Trees for the Helena River restoration project, including revegetation, weed control, and habitat improvement
  • $25,000 provided to the City of Belmont’s Garvey Park Trail Development Plan to support the sustainable planning and development of recreational trails
  • $879,270 to assist the City of Belmont with the delivery of FOGO to 20,000 households
  • Funding to the City of Belmont to plant trees and restore vegetation at Nance Park (Kewdale), Monier Park (Redcliffe), Epsom Park (Redcliffe), Redgum Park (Kewdale), Whiteside Park (Cloverdale), Jack Ring Park (Rivervale), Albert Jordan Park (Ascot), Gibson Park (Redcliffe), Hoffman Park (Cloverdale), Aviary Gardens (Rivervale), Alfred Park (Belmont, St Kilda Reserve (Rivervale), Silcox Park (Cloverdale), Peachey Park (Kewdale)

PUTTING PATIENTS FIRST

  • Delivered Urgent Care Clinics at Belmont City Medical Centre, Ridge Ascot Medical Centre and Waterhall Medical Centre
  • $131,261 to Valued Lives Foundation towards enhancing mental health services
  • Bentey Hospital is the catchment health centre for the electorate. The State Government contributed $75 million for a new surgicentre, and delivered a new, contemporary midwife-led maternity service – the first public health service in Western Australia to offer this model of care
